And it was a game that came down to the wire; it did not disappoint.
The Cobram ladies started a bit slow in the first five minutes, with the Boomers showing high attacking pressure. But the Roar held their own strongly.
Cobram's defence was up to the task of keeping the Boomers at bay.
Then, Hayley Burn played a perfectly timed through ball to Casey Chandler, who gave Roar the 1-0 lead.
Cobram continued to dominate when in possession of the ball, although the wind was making it hard for them to utilise each other. At half-time Cobram led the Boomers 1-0.
Cobram came out strong and aggressive in the second-half with the wind behind them.
After being unable to convert with a quick transition through the middle of the park, a Boomers counter-attack left Lara in a position to have a shot.
Cobram keeper Em Ryan misjudged the shot, which was caught by the wind and the ball ended up in the back of her net.
As the game progressed, Cobram continued to play attacking football and with only four minutes left on the clock, vice-captain Monique Goegan scored a ‘worldie’ into the top-left corner, giving the Boomers keeper no chance.
The women continue their undefeated streak and are third on the AWFA Division 1 ladder.
In their next outing, they will take on league favourites Albury Hotspurs on Sunday, August 4.
