But what often goes under the radar is how important the reserves outfit is to a club.
From the fellas who rock up to help out following a big night, to the guys who are pushing for a ones selection and the rusted on older heads who wind back the clock.
Hell, even at Congupna you will find the club president running around in the seconds.
There might not be anything flashy in the midday game, but those sides are often filled with characters who not only support the seniors, but the club itself.
Just ask Congupna senior captain Daniel Schaper how important the ressies are to the Roaders.
The twos triumphed over Moama by 15 points to book a date against Mulwala ― and coincidentally The Road’s senior football opponent ― in Saturday’s Murray Football League big dance.
“Mate it’s huge. We got our whole senior side to the ground on Saturday to watch that game, we just really wanted them to make it,” he said earlier this week.
“To get them into a grand final was one of the biggest things.
“We had a couple of blokes who have played senior footy with us and they would have missed out if they lost which would have been really heartbreaking.
“I hated seeing blokes sit out in a final when they should have been playing. It was huge that they got through and now get an opportunity.
“The boys are playing unbelievable footy and they’re not looking like a reserves side at the moment. We all train together and we’re one team really.”
