Mia played 20 games in one day, about 11 hours of play, with only one break of 15 minutes to grab a cold drink and snack.
Mia and her 11-year-old brother Luca both did well at the tournament. Luca came runner-up in the under-12s and Mia also achieved runner-up in the under-18s.
The pair are students of Yarrawonga P-12 College, local players at Club Mulwala Snooker Club and have both been playing snooker since they were able to reach the table.
It was also a long day for their family watching the two, who were often playing on different sides of the room.
The two siblings are children of Samantha Ridley, and niece and nephew of Adrian Ridley who are both well-known in the community for winning snooker titles.
To her delight, Mia was able to wear the same gold shirt that her mother had worn when she won her first Australian Championship at 15 years old.
“The shirt worked,” Mia said after winning, adding she will continue wearing it to tournaments as “a lucky shirt.”
Mia and Luca will represent Victoria in the Australian Junior Championships and the state team, which will be held next January at the Commercial Club in Albury.
