But while the Blues would feel confident about what they are capable of after such a strong start to the season, they will have to overcome one challenge with the loss of three stars.
The club's Northern Territory contingent of Cam Ilett, Darren Ewing and Jack Monigatti will all be unavailable as border issues remain in place due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Souter said the decision was made to hold off rather than change travel plans.
“The NT boys will be back next week,” he said.
“We were going to fly them into NSW to play, but we're going to let the dust settle a bit more first.
“It will be a different-looking senior side. We'll be far from full strength, but there's not much to be done about it. Everyone is in the same boat.”
But while challenges have now presented themselves to the team, Souter said his side was just happy to be back playing.
“We had the whole season taken from us last year and, to be honest, there was a little bit of a sense of that same feeling last week when we were locked down again,” he said.
“So it's just great to be back up and running again. The boys are looking forward to it.
“There's probably been a few blokes who have played regular senior footy for us in the past who haven't got a crack at it this year.
“A few of them will come up and one or two younger blokes will get an opportunity too.”
The Blues will head across the river to Moama for their game this weekend against Rumbalara.
On the netball court, the developing Blues side has yet another major task to face.
While Tongala has been one of the most improved sides in the competition so far this season, it has struggled against the top sides in Deni and Nathalia, and will be looking to turn its fortunes around in this clash.
