The Cats won the toss and started with the bat. Soon it became clear that Mooroopna had found itself on top of the league ladder for a reason.
After 20 overs, the Cats had posted 1/150. Katamatite fill-in Haylie Hendrie, who has been playing with the side for just a few weeks, pocketed her first wicket for the Tigers (1/8 from 1.2).
Taking their turn with the bat, the Tigers faced a line-up of a classy Mooroopna bowling outfit. Despite Sienna Hutchinson posting 26 from 37, and efforts with the bat from Kylie Wooden and Sophie Stanley, it just wasn’t the Tigers’ day.
Katamatite found itself at 8/39 after 11.5 overs.
Despite the result, coach-captain Christina Roberts said the side was focusing on the positives.
“They all tried their best. It was a tough game, and they all made the most of the situation,” Roberts said.
“Everyone’s so positive, it’s such as positive good bunch of women to play with.”
The side is looking forward to its round 13 clash with eighth-placed Rochester at home.
“It’s an excellent chance for us to be really competitive again, so we’ve just got to keep training and put our foot forward and a win on the board,” Roberts said.
