Looby booted 12 majors in his side’s 128-point thumping of Deni Rovers, propelling Strathmerton to its third consecutive triple-digit victory on Saturday afternoon.
A 10-goal-to-two opening quarter set the tone for the Bulldogs, who cruised to a comfortable 24.17 (161) to 5.3 (33) success at Strathmerton Recreation Reserve.
Saturday’s 12-goal effort was Looby’s second double-digit tally of the year following on from an 11-goal haul against Yarroweyah last month.
The Dogs coach is second in the league goal-kicking standings with 48 majors, eight behind leader Charlie Burrows from Waaia.
Darcy McCormack and Darcy Robinson had three goals each for the Bulldogs, with Zack Betson, Jake Ellery and Aubrey Coote named among Strathy’s best.
The 19-goal triumph means Strathmerton has maintained its place in second spot on the ladder. The Dogs are 12 points behind top side Waaia, but they hold two games in hand.
Meanwhile, Waaia extended its undefeated streak with a 22.11 (143) to 10.7 (67) victory over Katandra in a top-four encounter, its 10th triumph in a row to start the season.
Rennie was victorious in the battle of the Hoppers after prevailing by 24 points over Yarroweyah, 13.10 (88) to 10.4 (64).
Tungamah, Mathoura and Picola United were Saturday’s other winners.
In the netball, league-leader Deni was too strong for Strathmerton, earning an impressive 39-24 win to keep its perfect start to the season rolling.
The result means the Bulldogs have slipped out of the top four, dropping down to fifth spot on the ladder.
In the weekend’s other top-four clash, Katandra bested Waaia 54-38 to climb into second.
In other results, Rennie edged past Yarroweyah 32-29, while Picola United, Mathoura and Tungamah were also victorious.
