After opening the 2023-24 campaign with a commanding 80-run win over Rochester, Shepparton United carried its fine form through the first fortnight with another hammering on Sunday, this time at the expense of Bamawm-Lockington United.
Shepparton United’s offence was more restricted than in its round one rout, but after posting 7-91 from its 20 overs, the bowlers took over with aplomb.
United would comprehensively move to 2-0, bowling BLU out for 37 in the club’s home opener.
Skipper Mel Saunders overcame her golden duck in the first innings with two middle-order wickets, while Thushali Premarathna finished with sterling figures of 3-5 from her four overs.
Around the grounds, Mooroopna celebrated its maiden victory in GMC competition, dispatching Echuca Green by eight wickets to make a big early statement.
Openers Gemma Boyd and Ebony Sleeth retired not out off their 30 balls as the Cats chased down 106 to win in the 17th over.
Elsewhere, Katty Tigers, Rochester and Kyabram Redbacks each notched their first successes of the season over Echuca White, Cooma and Nathalia, respectively.
News photographer Megan Fisher was at Princess Park to capture the action.
