In another competitive Albury Wodonga Football Association match-up, the Roar found the back of the net early through 16-year-old Luke Goodin, however a Boomers goal just four minutes later saw the scores draw level.
These two early goals proved to be the only time either side could find the back of the net on the day and despite seven yellow cards being handed out, along with a red card to Cobram’s Ben Zito, neither side could break the deadlock.
Roar coach Vince Iannucci said the Boomers probably created more chances than the Roar.
“Tarkyn Hyde was probably the one that kept us in the match,” Iannucci said.
“We’re sort of limping to the line at the moment, we had four of our usual starters out on the weekend, one for suspension and three due to injury.
“It was a good game, don’t get me wrong we had some chances as well, their’s were probably a little bit closer than ours.
“We had a few long-range efforts that could very well have gone in if they were on target and a couple of real tight ones at the end that we probably should have put away.”
The draw is the second time in three weeks the Roar have dropped points, however with a number of injuries, and only one loss so far this season, Iannucci is happy with how the season is progressing.
“We’ve played the two best sides three times in the past two weeks,” Iannucci said.
“I’m not worried, we haven’t really hit our stride yet, we’ve hit a bit of a speed bump with some injuries and we’re still managing to get some results.
“We’ve dropped four points in the last three games but we haven’t lost, so we’ll be up there.”
The Roar will be looking to return to the winners list on Sunday when the side takes on Melrose at home, with kick off at 3pm.

Division 2 men
Cobram Roar 1 lost to Boomers 4
A slow start caught the inexperienced Roar team out with two early goals from the opposition. With several unavailabilities, Layne Haley and Spencer Clark stepped up in the middle of the park. Going into half-time 3-0 down the Cobram team came out after half-time with a point to prove with Conor Dodson scoring a great free kick and the whole team working a lot better as a unit.
Division 2 women
Cobram Roar 5 defeated Boomers 0
In a great start to Female Football Week, the Division 2 women continued their winning ways this week against Boomers FC, in what was a very fiery physical and mentally challenging game.
The squad welcomed back young guns Angelina Fotia and Hollie Percy this week.
The enjoyment was taken out of the game with some on field drama between the two teams, but this didn't stop our girls from trying to play football and do their best to play. The score was 2-0 at half-time with a goal each to Laydah Samani and Talia Ellis.
The second half was great to watch from the sidelines as far as ball movement went, the Roarettes dominating possession of the game adding three more goals to the board through Marlie Noonan, two, and Alexia Corso, one. This win sees our ladies hit the top of their table leading by goal difference.
The ladies take on Melrose FC this week which will be a testing game.

Under 14 girls
Cobram Roar 2 drew with Myrtleford 2
A hard-fought game for the under-14 girls against Myrtleford in Wodonga. Myrtleford got away to an early 2-0 lead but our defence dug deep and defended well against a strong attack to prevent any further goals. The ball was passed strongly out of defence down the line into our attack and was well played, especially with Matilda Iddles scoring her first Roar goal to bring the score to 1-2 at half-time. The second half saw more strong Roar defence with most of the team rotating through the backline providing valuable support to our key defenders and goalie Milla Aldridge. Gemma Janssens saw a gap and goaled to level the scores just before full time. Well done to all players, the girls kept their heads up and supported each other through a tough game.
Under-13

Under-12
Cobram Roar 2 drew with Boomers 2
Cobram Roar under-12 boys arrived at the ground feeling pumped and ready to face Boomers in what proved to be a very exiting match.
The boys started the first half very well with great passing in the midfield from Harvey Boake and Henry Watmore creating chances for the boys to get ahead. Cobram scored the first goal of the game with Jeremy Egan getting the boys ahead. Towards the end of the first half another goal was scored by Logan Morley with a cool finish, ending the half 2-2.
The second half played out with awesome defending from duo Lachlan Pardy and Andre Corso in centre back keeping the scores level. The boys gave their all to score another goal to give them the lead but the time ran out ending the match a 2-2 draw. The boys played very well sending a message to the league that they are top contenders. Well done to the boys.
