A physical 3-1 win over Twin City was an important one for the side, with an action-packed second half proving the difference.
At half-time the scores were one a piece, with Anthony Corso’s 40th minute goal cancelled out by a 45th minute Twin City penalty.
Things soon changed in the second half with Florian Dambricourt scoring a 55th minute penalty, before a returning Jack Dovey doubled the Roar’s lead three minutes later.
Dovey’s goal left the scores at 3-1 and that was how it remained, with a late Spiros Vourgaslis red card the only downside to the result.
Roar coach Vince Iannucci said it was a very physical contest.
“I suppose we just grinded through it, we probably took a stand in the end,” Iannucci said.
“At the end of the day a win’s a win, we’re not going to knock that on the head, we won fair and square.
“We’ve played Wednesday, Sunday and Sunday, so the boys are a bit sore and sorry at the moment.”
The win sees the Roar sit in second place on the ladder on goal difference.
The side will take on Boomers away from home this week, with Iannucci hoping for a more football focussed contest, as opposed to the two physical battles of the past two weeks.
Sunday’s game will kick off at 3pm in Glen Park, Glenroy.

Division 2 men
Cobram Roar 0 lost to Twin City 2
A disappointing result after an even first half between the two teams saw the reserves suffer a 2-0 loss. Two big first half saves from young Jordan Kelly kept them team in with a chance before a loss of concentration from the team early in the second half saw the opposition score two early second-half goals.
Attempts on goal from Zain Ailbraheem and Rocky Perri were unlucky not to even the score line.
The young squad will regroup for next week’s clash against Boomers.
Division 2 women

This week’s match was a great confidence boost for the team and there was great excitement when young guns Bella Pardy and Alexia Corso scored their first senior goals. Under-14 girls
Cobram Roar defeated Wangaratta 0
A great win for the girls today in Wangaratta. All players put in 110 per cent and the 3-0 win proved how far the team has come this season. The ball was passed strategically through the midfield by Reegan Hawke, Matilda Iddles and Hannah Hetherington to find gaps and opportunities for attack. Goals were scored by Luana Mete (2) and Gemma Janssens (1). Defence was really strong, especially towards the end of the game, with Ella Janssens, Lora Owen, Lucy Wilkins and Alissa Mete providing solid support for Milla Aldridge in goals. There were some great passages of play, especially from deep in defence to our attacking forwards, and all girls contributed to this well-deserved win.

Cobram Roar 6 defeated Wodonga Diamonds White 3

The second half saw Roar wear down Diamonds' defences. Goals were scored by Jack Wood, Charlie Keath and Lenny Power. A shot at goal by Logan Morley couldn't be stopped by the opposition's defence and resulted in an own goal.
Diamonds weren't giving up easily and kept Roar's defence busy too. Alex Hawke did a sterling job in goals, throughout the whole game. Lukas Stewart and Lachie Pardy did some fantastic work in the midfield.
Diamonds scored two more goals in the second half and then some great forward play by Roar resulted in another own goal by Diamonds in the last few minutes of the game.
