Off the back of the club’s most successful Goulburn Valley League A-grade season, Mooroopna is gearing up for another tilt at an elusive premiership.
The Cats suffered a preliminary final defeat to last year’s eventual premier Seymour and have spent the past off-season licking their wounds and strengthening their squad.
Mastermind coach Di Hanslow returns to lead her charges, with the addition of two emerging talents and one big departure.
Taylah Lloyd returns to her junior club after a brief stint at Tatura Park and adds serious height to the court, while Nathalia goaler Caitlin McLachlan will her test her skills at GVL level.
Star attacker Elle Brooks is the one talent from last season who won’t return, due to a move to Sydney.
Exciting VNL talent Dayna Williams is back with her versatility, Maddi Wong will anchor the defence, Ella Ogier will shift to the midcourt and Hanslow’s daughter Bree will again add experience through the midcourt.
Junior state talent Hannah Onley is also expected to add some spark.
“Everything is going well. You don’t lose too many games in pre-season,” Hanslow said with a laugh.
“I’m very happy with the squad we’ve built and we’re excited to build on what was one of the club’s best results in the competition. We bring in two really exciting players who will only add to our versatility and depth and we wish Elle all the best with her move to Sydney.”
