Barooga unveiled its newly refurbished netball courts at Barooga Recreation Reserve on Saturday, but unfortunately the Hawks were unable to mark the occasion with their first A-grade win of the season.

Club life members Kim McShane, Kristie Primmer, Jill Toohey and Wendy Brooks were on the courts with Berrigan Shire Mayor Matthew Hannan and Deputy Mayor Carly Marriott to cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony under the glow of the new lights upgrade.
Following the formalities, it was Finley who earned the four points after prevailing 42-32.
It was the Cats’ first win of 2023, while the Hawks are still waiting to accomplish that same feat.
Tocumwal is also still waiting to taste victory for the first time, but the Bloods came their closest yet to that breakthrough win on Saturday.
Following 13-goal and eight-goal defeats previously, Tocumwal showed more improvement again as the side narrowly lost to Congupna 45-42.
Meanwhile, Cobram fell 53-23 against a formidable Tongala side.
“I thought we produced some really good passages of netball against a very well organised and drilled team in Tongala,” Cobram coach Robbie Glass said.
“Our young group will learn plenty from the experience and we look forward to the challenge of playing next week against Echuca United.”
Glass said Sophie Kennedy and Leah Nish were two of the top performers for the Tigers.
This Saturday, the Bloods will now face their biggest test of the season when they take on defending premiers Deniliquin. Barooga will take on Moama.
