Shepparton Golf maintained its perfect start to the Goulburn Valley Playing Area midweek pennant division one Edna Harling Shield season, besting Seymour by one shot in a thrilling contest at Seymour Bowling Club.

A gripping match from start to finish, the class of the Golfers would hold firm in the finish as they limped over the line for the 12-73 to 4-72 triumph.
Seymour looked to be in control for large portions of the match and claimed two of the three rink victories courtesy of Graeme Flint (27-20) and Max Flint (25-24).
But the buffer those two victories created wasn’t enough to counter the efforts of Kris Wright in rink one, who orchestrated a pivotal 29-20 triumph to slightly tip the scales in Golf’s favour.
The remaining division one results were blow-outs.
East Shepparton climbed up to second spot on the ladder with a 16-73 to 0-51 over reigning premier Tatura-Hill Top.
Kyabram was far too good for Euroa, as it dominated from beginning to end to record a 14-84 to 2-52 triumph.
While Shepparton Park rounded out the winners’ list with a comfortable 14-77 to 2-52 victory over Rushworth.
Division two action was also highlighted by a match at Seymour Bowling Club, as Tatura-Hill Top outlasted the Lions 13-66 to 3-63 in a thriller.
A close encounter for its entirety, both teams managed to win one rink, with the third being a tie.
Ultimately it was the efforts of Wayne Shepherd in rink two that secured the victory for the Bulldogs, with his 26-22 triumph enough to secure the points.
Elsewhere, Shepparton Park outlasted East Shepparton in a tight encounter, with 14-72 to 2-64 the final score.
Shepparton Golf flexed its muscles against Morooopna and prevailed 16-77 to 0-58.
Tallygaroopna breezed past Mooroopna Golf 15-87 to 1-52.
While Kyabram rounded out the winners’ list with a clinical 14-84 to 2-53 win over Stanhope.
Seymour VRI continued its hot start to the division three season, as it recorded a thrilling 13-72 to 3-67 win over a Kyabram.
A battle of the competition’s two undefeated sides, VRI triumphed courtesy of a dominant 29-14 victory for Joseph Purcell in rink one.
Nardo Di Petta did his best to wrestle back the momentum, orchestrating a 30-20 victory in rink two.
But a draw in the decisive third rink resulted in VRI recording a five-shot triumph.
Mooroopna Golf recorded a hard-fought 14-61 to 2-54 win over East Shepparton to open its account for season 2022-23.
Avenel outlasted Shepparton Golf to record a pivotal 14-70 to 2-61 victory.
Nagambie catapulted into second spot after it accounted for Euroa 14-74 to 2-59.
While Shepparton Park rounded out the weekend’s action with a punishing 14-90 to 2-64 win over Numurkah.
Division four action had Kyabram, Seymour, Shepparton Golf and East Shepparton record wins.
While in division five it was Shepparton Park, Avenel, Euroa and Rushworth that emerged victorious.
