Cobram blitzed Rumbalara to run out 18.10 (118) to 3.5 (23) winners on Saturday, while Barooga slipped against Echuca United - handing the Eagles their first win of 2021.
Cobram cemented its spot in the top two on the table thanks to the 95-point drubbing of Rumba at Scott Oval.
The Tigers now have a percentage of almost 200 and are well placed behind ladder leader Tongala.
Cobram's mentor John Brunskill was pleased with how his outfit was able to overcome Rumba's pressure early in the contest.
“It took a while to get going. Rumba's pressure was really high and we couldn't get the game on our terms at the start,” he said.
“We are getting challenged each week, so we know we have got to be on our toes.
“But I was impressed with our ability to work for each other and then control the contest.”
Talented forwards Ben Ryan (five goals), Darcy McCormack (four) and onaballer Tyron Baden (three) all enjoyed day outs.
Teenager Luca Allen impressed on the wing, along with his younger brother Matteo, and Lewis McShane chipped in with great service.
“I was really proud of the performance from Luca and Matteo,” Brunskill said.
“They were both really important for us. Luca was super clean out on the wing and Matteo started on the ball and didn't look out of place.
“It's the same with the rest of our young players, they bring a lot to the senior side and I know that we'll get 100 per cent each week.”
● Meanwhile, the strange quirk of football sides winning after departing with their coach claimed another victim last weekend.
Barooga suffered a 40-point loss to Echuca United, which had parted ways with its mentor before the match, at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
Daniel Johnston's three goals for the Hawks had him named their best player on the day, while teammate Max Mackay and Callum Leighton-Daly provided strong support.
● On the netball front, Rumbalara issued Cobram a 65-33 defeat.
Cobram's 15-and-under outfit did enjoy a stellar 24-13 win which keeps them locked in fifth spot on the ladder.
And Barooga was unable to match the heights of Echuca United, going down 46-32.
Barooga now sit in seventh spot with three wins this campaign.
