Kyabram’s Kyle Mueller has been judged the best fieldsman in country Australia for the second time.
The Kyabram Cricket Club captain who is known more for his run making feats returned at the weekend from the Australian Country Cricket Championships in South Australia’s Barossa Valley with the award for being the best fieldsman at the carnival.
Mueller won same the award last year in his debut season representing Victoria.
But it was a bit more special this year because Victoria won the championship.
It won seven of its nine games and finished well clear on top of the ladder after wins in its last three games against Queensland, NSW and Western Australia.
After missing out with the bat in the first three games and not required to bat in two of the next three games Mueller produced scores of 12 not out 20, 50 and 28 not out to finish the carnival in a blaze of glory and a combined 116 runs.
Mueller’s Cricket Shepparton teammate in the Victorian side, Waaia’s Jesse Trower took 15 wickets - the fourth most of the carnival - and was rewarded with selection in the All Australian side at the conclusion of the carnival
