Katamatite under-15s welcomed the Finley Cats on Saturday morning, December 14, for a 25-over game due to the rain affected first day of play.
Finley captain Nick Chesworth won the toss and elected to bat first, with himself and James Winn to open the batting.
After an innings of really strong bowling from Katamatite it was James Winn, and Jackson Pitt who stood up, both posting scores of 20 plus with Jackson finishing the innings on 23 not out.
With the Cats posting a total of 96, Finley needed to bowl tight and for opening bowlers in Evan Lawton and Noah Brindley to take some early wickets to boost the Cats’ confidence.
Coming up to drinks, Katamatite had gotten off to a strong start due to their opening batters and the Cats needed a boost, which came with Angus Urquhart taking three wickets in the over after drinks, taking the score to 3/50.
Following this period, Katamatite ticked over the scoreboard, frequently, winning the game by five wickets.
