Held from Saturday, September 14, through to Saturday, September 21, James said she was “very pleased” with her results after such a rigorous competition.
She played teams and individuals from New Zealand and Australia for the whole week.
After a fully packed seven days of table tennis representing Victoria, she was able to score a bronze medal in her individual endeavours for her age grouping.
As a result, she now has an overall ranking of number two in the country for her age.
“This is determined by results achieved in both the team and individual events,” she said.
“While I have been in the top ten in Australia for a few years, this is the first time I have achieved a number two rating.”
James’ Victorian team also achieved a silver medal.
“After an emotionally and physically challenging week, I am very pleased with both my results and the results of all teams and players from Table Tennis Victoria, with whom our club is affiliated.
“All up, despite strong competition from the other states of Australia and some New Zealand teams, Victoria achieved four gold, six silver and one bronze in the team events.
“Gold went to the Men’s O30, Men’s O40, Women’s O50 and Men’s O80 teams.
“My team achieved a silver medal but also the state team title, as the team who beat us was a combination team not a state team.
James was the driving force in the establishment of the Deniliquin Table Tennis Club, which operates out of the Deniliquin Stadium.
The spring pennant began on September 24, with a few new players joining the season.
Games are played at the stadium on Tuesdays from 7pm. Spectators and new players are welcome.
