Brad Lovitt and Helen Pascoe took home the weekend’s top prizes, winning the men’s and women’s Easter Cups on Saturday, April 8.
Pascoe prevailed in tough conditions to win the women’s cup by an impressive nine shots over local favourite Rowena Wallace.
Lovitt scored 77 off the stick to take home the trophy by two shots over Corowa’s Kieran MacNamara and Cobram Barooga member Mark Corradin.
The best nett score of the day and the only person to beat their handicap on the Saturday was local Jason Stephens with 70 nett.
With more than 150 people taking part in the golf across the weekend, head professional at Cobram Barooga Golf Club Michael MacGregor said the Easter tournament was a huge success.
"It was fabulous, it was our biggest Easter tournament yet,“ MacGregor said.
“We had people from as far away as Coffs Harbour come down for it, a big group of 30-plus from Beverley Park Golf Club in Sydney, people from Melbourne — here, there and everywhere.
“The open was great. It was won by Brad Lovitt from Lang Lang Golf Club, he has been coming up for the past three or four years, and Helen Pascoe from Buninyong Golf Club was the women’s winner.”
MacGregor said the Easter tournament was the perfect opportunity for people to experience all the facilities that CBGC had available for members and guests.
“It showcases everything our complex has to offer,” he said.
“The mini golf was really popular with families, our bunker golf simulators were extremely busy across the weekend.
“It showcases all the forms of golf we have — real golf, virtual golf and mini golf. It was enjoyed by people young and old in many forms.”
