Mathoura Gun Club’s second annual Pink Shoot was held on Saturday with plenty of action out on the ranges and a nice cache of money raised for an important cause.

The event attracted almost 50 shooters and raised $5000 for the Mathoura bra fence, the support impressing club president Jack Carroll.
Almost 50 shooters from locally and abroad competed in the shoot.
“It went really well, better than expected and with a much bigger turnout,” he said.
“We had pretty good support from those shooters all around and locals in the area.”
Carroll himself made a sacrifice for the cause, shaving his beard of 15 years after the club made the $5000 target.
“My partner is also on the community and we’re brainstorming what are we going to aim to raise to donate to the bra fence,” Carroll said.
“I said a silly total and she said what about $5000.
“I said ‘you get that and I'll shave my beard’ and she pretty much said ‘well, put your money where your mouth is’.”
Travis Williams was the overall high gun winner.
The Mathoura bra fence provides petrol and food vouchers for locals battling cancer.
This is the second annual Pink Shoot for the club after instituting the event in 2023.
On the ranges, Travis Williams took out overall high gun honours, the ladies' award went to Kim Thompson, while Fred Heinze was best in the veterans’ event.
Club president Jack Carroll agreed to shave his beard if the club reached its $5000 target.
