The Goulburn Valley League has rolled out a 34-strong list of its best and brightest young netballers tasked with taking on its country foe later this month.
The 15-and-under and 17-and-under GVL interleague sides were recently announced by the organisation ahead of its clash with the Ovens and Murray League on May 25.
For the first time, a 15-and-under battle will ensue on the courts in the storied rivalry.
The GVL’s younger brigade has come under the tutelage of gun Seymour duo Ellie Fuhrmeister and Courtney Aldous, while the 17-and-under crop is set to be mentored by Shepparton’s Kim Borger and Mooroopna’s Bree Hanslow.
Though the open-age squad is yet to be announced, GVL holds bragging rights after a Sarah Szczykulski-captained outfit returned from Albury Sports Ground with a memorable 39-36 victory in the 2023 affair.
They’ll be looking to recreate the magic when interleague action returns to Deakin Reserve in just a few weeks, while the 17-and-under charges seek revenge following last year’s 52-37 loss at the hands of the O&M.
It won’t be their only hit-out, either.
The pair of youth GVL sides will first feature at the Echuca and District Netball Association tournament on May 19 before the day out at Deakin the following week.
A day on from the interleague stoush, the purple-and-yellow clad talents will venture into enemy territory to play in the Association Championships at Netball Wodonga on May 26.
