It was a day to remember for the local footy club as four fathers and their sons pulled on the jersey.
To put it mildly, the 2024 season has not been the easiest at Yarroweyah Football Netball Club, with both senior and reserves sides going winless.
It would be understandable if some would be unwilling to pull on the Hoppers green and gold jersey.
For these fathers, the results on the day, which ended in 114 and 167 point defeats to Berrigan, did not matter, the opportunity to play alongside their sons was special regardless.
Paul Iskov played seniors with his son Hunter.
“It has meant the world to me,” he said.
It’s a moment Hunter will never forget.
“I feel lucky to have had the opportunity this season to play alongside my dad, most parents retire before they get the opportunity to play the sport they love alongside their children,” he said.
Christian Duhring took to the oval with his son Ryder.
“It was a fantastic way to end the year playing with the young fella,” he said.
“I have been playing at Yarroweyah for 10 years, and it is wonderful to see my son has the same love and passion for the club I have.”
Alongside the Duhrings and Iskovs, Corey Trist played with his sons Blake and Jett, while Ben Henderson lined up alongside son Dylan.
