In a somewhat unexpected result, Echuca was named division four weekend pennant champion over hot favourite Moama at the weekend.
Not only had Moama compiled the best regular season record in the division, but the Steamers obliterated their grand final opponents just two weeks ago in the qualifying final, winning 74-35.
Undaunted by that result, Echuca showed its best when it really counted to shock Moama 76-56 and grab the championship.
All three rinks went Echuca’s way, the biggest margin going to skip Joan Moss who got her side up 28-19.
Trev Rickard and Neil Dovaston were also successful in the comprehensive upset performance.
Moama skips Mark Daly, Peter Whitlock and Barry Barbary had proved their quality throughout the year, but Moama was unable to conjure its best in the decider.
