You won’t find two A-grade netball sides more evenly matched in the Murray League, or maybe any league, this year than Echuca United and Cobram.
After a 28-goal draw in the teams’ round-three meeting, the two sides decided to run it back in their second encounter, this time putting up 32 goals apiece to once again share the points.
Cobram did look to break away early in the encounter at Echuca South Recreation Reserve, taking the first quarter 11-7, and the Tigers pressed their advantage in the second, extending the lead to eight goals by the main break.
The Eagles returned fire in the third quarter and set about eating into the lead, reducing the margin to just a single score by three-quarter-time.
Ultimately, a low-scoring fourth quarter would see United earn a minor advantage, 6-5, but the two sides couldn’t be separated at the final whistle.
A place where United and Cobram aren’t mirroring each other is on the league table with Cobram (3-9-2) boasting an extra win over the Eagles (2-10-2).
Remarkably the two sides are also within 0.2 in seasonal goal percentage with Echuca United (68.56) holding a slight advantage over Cobram (68.36).
