Things got off to a flying start for the home side as George Wiles managed to win two penalties inside the box in the first 25 minutes.
Roar captain and forward Bill Puckett stood up to the mark and scored both.
Soon the floodgates opened, with Clement Perot, Jake Kalz, Florine Damb, Tom Plyson and Wiles each adding their names to the score sheet.
At half-time, the Roar led the Wanderers 7-1.
Roar coach Daniel Vasilevski said he believed the side has a great mix of youth and senior players with two 16-year-old debutants, Sam Slattery and Jaxon Stewart, marking their first premier division appearance.
“[I think we] played well, though lots of improvement left,” Vasilevski said.
“Particularly keeping possession in the middle of the park, and also a bit more urgency in defending at the back.
“Disappointed that we conceded a goal, due to a lack of urgency and being caught ball watching at the back.
“Good to see both of our forwards, Jake (Kalz) and Bill (Puckett) getting on the score sheet and building confidence, as well as George Wiles having another good game.”
Next Sunday, March 6 the Roar meets Wodonga Diamonds at home again for a 3pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, the division one women meet the Diamonds at Apex Park at 11.20am in what will no doubt be a tight match.
