Veteran Cobram hobby trainer Don Rudd has certainly clicked with trotter Bennie And The Jets, who completed a hat-trick of wins when he saluted at last week’s Bendigo meeting.
The win came just four days after Bennie And The Jets outclassed his rivals on the first day of Maryborough’s Redwood Carnival and only 10 days from when he won his first Australian start at Shepparton.
In his Maryborough win, Bennie And The Jets was sent straight to the front-running position by reinsman John Caldow and was never in danger of defeat, cruising to the finishing post nearly 10m clear of the runner-up Night Whisperer.
He was just as impressive accounting for his rivals at Bendigo on Tuesday, coming from last at the bell lap out to reel in his rivals with a sustained finishing burst despite being forced to race wide.
John Caldow was again in the sulky for the win.
By Quaker Jet, Bennie And The Jets had won three times in New Zealand from 37 starts and he has now equalled that feat in his first three Australian starts.
