It was a case of another week, another win for the Cobram Roar on Sunday.

The Roar picked up their fourth win of the season, defeating Wodonga Diamonds 3-0 at home in round five Albury Wodonga Football Association action.
It was another solid display from the Cobram side, with a first-half Anthony Corso brace and a 60th minute Bill Puckett goal giving the Roar the win.
Despite the solid scoreline it was far from smooth sailing for the Roar and coach, Vince Iannucci said he thought the first half was poor.
"We changed the midfield a little bit, we’re trying to see what differences we can make in the middle,“ Iannucci said.
“They (Cobram) were really flat to start with, even though we scored the two goals I thought our first half was poor.
“I think the midfield change probably had a bit to do with it, some new guys in there, they are probably a little bit more experienced.
“But the cohesion through the middle has been really good up until this time and I haven’t really had to change it for four or five weeks.”
Iannucci faces the luxury of a selection headache at the Roar this season, with a number of reserves players having the ability to play senior soccer.
One player who is likely to miss out next time round is Sprios Vourgaslis, with the Roar stalwart unlucky to pick up a calf injury 24 minutes into Sunday’s game.
The Roar will have a week off this week before they take on Albury United away from home on April 24.

Division 2 men
Cobram Roar 2 drew with Wodonga Diamonds 2
The division 2 men’s team faced Diamonds at the weekend and came away with a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Wanting to make up for last week’s poor showing, Cobram started brightly with Tarkyn Hyde going close. Unfortunately, it was a lack of pressure that let Diamonds in, with a good strike putting them up. Cobram rallied back and won a penalty but couldn’t convert before good link-up play saw Paul Diretto slot Cobram’s first. Zain Alibraheem got on the end of a long ball to put Cobram ahead just before the break.
The second half saw Cobram create a number of chances and Jordan Kelly in goal kept well. Diamonds did get an equaliser late from a scrambled corner and the game ended in a stalemate.

Cobram Roar 1 def Wodonga Diamonds 0
Cobram Roar ladies played in an evenly contested match on Sunday. Tight competition did not allow for any goals in the first half with the scoreline 0-0 at the half-time break. The ladies came out in the second half with determination and were rewarded early in the second half when Laydah Samani found the back of the net. Samani’s goal proved to be the difference, with Cobram taking out the contest.

Cobram Roar 14 def Wodonga Diamonds 0
Great game played by all the girls against Wodonga Diamonds. We put into practice what we had focused on at training this week — strong passes, communication and setting up positions for play, and came away with a great win. Goal scoring was shared by many of the girls from well positioned and set up play. Alexis Iddles (6), Ella Janssens (3), Luana Mete (2), Gemma Janssens (2) and Reegan Hawke (1). The defence continued strongly all game, with great clearances from the opposition’s forward. Well done to the team.

The players kept their heads up through what was a tough game.
Alex Hawke did some great saves as goalkeeper, but the balls just kept coming. Ella Janssens created some great opportunities in the forward line. Sienna Hutchinson played well in defence, where Lenny Power did a great job keeping the backline organised.
Lukas Stewart and Xavier Gooderham put pressure on Wodonga's players throughout the entire game. The scoreline was not reflective of the team's great attitude and the effort that the team put in.

The Roar cubs battled it out in a closely contested game. They showed skill and determination in the even contest. The game was tied at 2-2 until the opposition snatched a goal in the dying stages of the match. A good effort by the whole team.
