Club members started last week with the women's social bowls on the Monday.
Fourteen women attended and they played two teams of four and two teams of triple play.
Winners were the fours team of Liz Ewing, Val Linquist, Val Toohey and Ruth Burnett. No other details available.
The next women’s trade day is on Wednesday, September 30, at Barooga, starting at 12.30 pm. So get your names down quick.
It is good to see the Victorian teams being able to bowl in this competition once again.
Last Wednesday’s women’s trade day was held at Jerilderie but no details supplied as to winners.
Keith's Friday bowls was held among a couple of showers passing through and even three lots of hail which, except for the last shower of hail, melted away quickly.
It was the last shower of hail that halted proceedings for the day.
Overall it was not a bad afternoon to play bowls.
Bowlers played one rink of triples and, as it turned out, the winners of the day came from the triples rink.
Winners were Kevin Kennedy, Carol Cox and Jeff Nisbet with +13.
Heather Crosthwaite and John Bruce were runners-up with 11.
Because the second game was not completed, a draw of the cards decided best first and second game winners.
Lucky cards were Jill Toohey and Marie O'Brien for the first game and Graeme Ashcroft and Kerry Ralph for the second game.
Thanks to all the bowlers that did come out on a tricky day for weather and it was a shame the second game had the hail storm.
The jackpot did not go off and is now worth more than $260.
After the game, the main raffle draw run by the club was completed with Steve Tattnel attending representing the RACV, a major sponsor of the raffle.
Winner of the raffle was Ken Newton, who won the set of bowls.
Second prize went to Marita O'Kane who won the RACV's two nights accommodation and third prize went to John Bruce, who won a bowls bag donated by Shepparton Bowls shop.
Thank you to all that supported this raffle.
Now that it appears headway is being made on getting the bowls season started.
The presentation day has been set for Sunday, October 25, at 2 pm when a social game of bowls will be played followed by presentation for last season and then supper to follow.
Names on the sheet please, on the notice board.
Share the wealth medley pairs is on October 13. Club singles is to be played by October 13, with entries closing on October 1.
The Northern Rivers Pennant starts on October 2 and is to commence and November 6-7, when Murray Bowls pennant starts on November 6-7.
Names are urgently required for both these events, especially the Northern Rivers pennant, as teams will be selected from those advising they are interested in playing.
Teams will be selected early this coming week, so if you have not indicated you are interested then don't be surprised when you are not picked.
Pennant practice was to start this Wednesday, however, as the blub is hosting the women’s trade day, it has been changed to the following Wednesday.
It will start at 4 pm and it would be appreciated if all bowlers can attend as it is important to get some serious practice in before the season starts.
It was previously advised that practice would start this Wednesday at 4 pm, so if you do come on down there should be a rink or two available and it might even be that the women have completed their games.
