In the football, Cobram’s under-17s full forward Alex Krause received a total of 30 votes to bring home the league best-and-fairest award, ahead of Moama’s Archie Teasdale on 29 votes.
“I was just shocked, to be honest,” Alex said.
“Mum started tearing up, telling me how proud of me she was.”
“(Archie Teasdale is) a great player. His back end of the season was... phenomenal.”
Paulie Degei, named best-on-ground at the under-17s’ weekend victory against Mulwala, came in at third in the league best-and-fairest with 28 votes to his name.
“I wouldn’t be able to do it without John and the blokes who coach us,” Alex said.
“At the end of every game, [coach Brunskill would] come up to every player and pat them on the back.”
Emily Collins of Cobram’s under-13s netball side shared the top spot with Moama’s Evie Clarke, netting 27 votes apiece.
“I was not expecting to win at all,” Emily said.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was shaking afterwards.”
“Amy and Leonie have been amazing coaches this year.”
Brodie Wren, who received the CFNC under-17s best-and-fairest, said he was shocked when his name was announced.
“I didn’t expect to win it.”
Eamon Hyde, who tied for under-14 league best-and-fairest with Mulwala’s Axel Saunders on 48 votes, was also the leading league goal-kicker after bagging no fewer than 80 goals from just 22 games.
“I’m really honoured to be the leading goal-kicker in the league,” Eamon said.
