In the reserves, LBU went down in a heartbreaker to Mount Pleasant, ending its season at the semi-final stage.
The Cats earned a big lead early, going into the first break up 5.1 (31) to 2.1 (13) but couldn’t maintain momentum, taking the remaining three quarters to double their goal tally.
In the end, minor scores proved the difference and the Mounts prevailed 10.6 (66) to 10.3 (63).
In the thirds, White Hills proved far too strong for LBU in their qualifying final, advancing to the grand final 7.8 (50) to 1.2 (8).
The Cats will now have to negotiate a preliminary final with Huntly to earn a second shot at the Demons with the flag on the line.
Netball
In A-reserve, LBU’s season was ended at the hands of Elmore, the Bloods coming away with a 40-32 win.
In B-grade, the Cats were edged out of the finals by just one goal, going down 57-56 to White Hills.
In B-reserve, LBU was well-handled by White Hills, 58-34, with the Cats to receive a second chance against Huntly in the preliminary final.
A 51-35 defeat at the hands of Mount Pleasant will force LBU’s under-17s into a preliminary final with Huntly next weekend.
LBU was knocked out of under-15s contention by a single goal, 48-49 against Huntly.
