The event was a real crowd pleaser, both at the rodeo arena and the Deniliquin Rodeo Committee organised teaser activities in the CBD Saturday morning.
Committee member Alan Calderwood said the feedback has all been very positive.
“We had some pre-rodeo activity in Cressy St with Zara Lindeman singing and Lachie Cossor and his bull.
“That was extremely well received and assisted in attracting a crowd in the evening.
“Great weather on the day also helped with an appreciative crowd, and although no records were broken, everyone appeared to enjoy the spectacle.”
Calderwood said there was great competition across the many events.
“Our All Round Champion cowboy was Dave Stacey, who won the open Bare Back Ride event as well as the feature event, the Open Saddle Bronc Ride, taking winnings of more than $5000 home.
“The champion Rookie Saddle Bronc Rider, taking home the Frank Stockham Memorial Buckle, was Kolt Fraser.
“The Pub steer ride challenge was won by Pretty Pine Hotel with riders Jye Stubbs and Jack Fahey, while The Coach House Hotel and White Lion came in equal second.
“The Pen Riders Steer Challenge was won by the local team from Riv Beef, followed by Markarna Grazing, from Flinders Island, and then Associated Feedlots from Mathoura.”
The inaugural Mini Bull Ride was also a hit, Calderwood said.
“Conducted for the first time, it was also won by a local in Kade Crawford, with Dustin Dillon from Narrandera second.
“This is particularly exciting considering it was the event's first year at the Deni Rodeo.”
