On Saturday, Division one played Cobram at home and unfortunately lost 55/70 with only one rink up. Let’s hope they can regroup with better things to come. Division two travelled to Numurkah Golf and despite two rinks winning, went down overall by four shots, 50/54. This leaves our Division two side in a precarious position on the ladder, and they will need to regroup and put some wins under their belt in the games ahead. Division four had a forfeit from Wunghnu and therefore gained full points for the round. This has them second on the ladder and playing the top side, Cobram, next week in an important match to decide top spot. Division five travelled to Strathmerton and had a win by eight shots and are now third on the division ladder. Cobram have now been able to enter another team in the Division 5 and therefore this now eliminates the bye in this division. Points have been adjusted in this division, now that we have the extra team.
Keith's Friday had 16 bowlers attend and in perfect conditions played their usual three bowl pairs. Winners of the day were Tex Penna and Ray Wright with plus 14 with runners-up Val Toohey and Graeme Hickey close behind on plus 13. The best first game winners were Carol Wigg and Andy Jennings with plus six and the best second game winners were Fred Pinnuck and John Crump with plus 8. The jackpot did not go off and is now worth $77.00 this coming week.
The Rowlands-Sutcliffe Shield between GV and Murray Playing Areas was on Sunday at Shepparton Golf, and we wish those people chosen to play had a good day and wish the Murray Playing Area all the best.
It is with regret we advise the passing of one of our members, Ken Quick, who died Friday morning at the Cobram Hospital after a battle with cancer. We extend our sympathies to the Quick family, friends and relatives.
