Barooga’s seniors faced off against Moama in Murray Football League’s round six match, only to lose by five points.
Both teams were confident as they took to the field for their match, and by the end of the first quarter Barooga was in front by seven points, 10-3.
The end of the first half saw Barooga’s fortunes slide as it trailed Moama by four points, 29-25.
Despite Barooga’s valiant effort, which saw it kick another 18 points, by the end of the third quarter Moama was still leading 48-43.
The final quarter could have gone either way, but it was Moama that clinched victory with a final score of 56-51.
Barooga’s best players were Callum Leighton Daly, Angus Cameron, Charlie Ingham, Kris Bextream, Nicholas Gooch and Codi Bowden.
Meanwhile, Moama’s best players were Thomas Holman, James Whitehead, Liam Barrett, Jordan Ives, Jack Russell and Jack Sheldon.
Holman was best goal-kicker of the match with four goals.
Victory may have eluded the men’s team, but there were no such problems for the senior women’s or youth team as they took on Tatura.
The Barooga senior women’s team defeated Tatura 26 to 18.
The Barooga youth girls faced the Shepparton Swans, winning by 15 points, 17-2.
Barooga youth girls best players were Charlotte Cameron, Emma Koopman, Tahlia Muller, Charlotte Artavilla-Bennett, Taylor Waldron and Nakiyah Fraser.
Meanwhile, Shepparton Swans Youth Girls best players were Nakiah Sangster Bamblett, Ella Davies, Laura Atkinson, Ameyshia Baksh, Leshaya Baksh and Abbey McCormack.
