The nets were installed at the beginning of August, while the official opening took place on Thursday, October 26.
Barooga Cricket Club president Sam Leigh said the new nets would ensure players could train in a safer environment.
“They are fully enclosed, so balls don’t fall around everywhere,” he said.
“(They create) A safer environment for junior and senior players and are a great asset for the club for the next 20 to 30 years.”
Funding for the $340,000 worth of nets was acquired via grants from the NSW Government, Cricket NSW and money raised by the club itself.
The club was assisted with putting up the nets by Berrigan Shire Council and MS Constructions, and Mr Leigh said the club was incredibly grateful for their assistance.
Mr Leigh said the plan to acquire new nets had been in the pipeline for the past five to six years, picking up steam in the most recent two years.
He said the new nets, roughly 38m by 20m in total, were a great addition to the club’s already state-of-the-art facilities, and he hoped this latest acquisition would help draw in more players.
“We are just a really good family club, and we’ve got Thursday night where everyone trains at roughly the same time, we have family dinners and a really good atmosphere for all people,” Mr Leigh said.
