Barooga Cricket Club 2021/22 presentation

The Barooga Cricket Club held its annual presentation of awards for season 2021/22 in late March and the highlight of the day was the awarding of two life memberships to two club stalwarts in Sam Leigh and Jason Stephens. Each has an extensive resume that was read out demonstrating what worthy recipients both truly were of this prestigious award.

Other highlights included the Club Person of the Year going to hard-working under-16 coach and senior player, Jono Oliver.

The A-grade trophies were shared by Riley Gow (Champion Player award, batting average) and Kale Watkins (Sporties award, bowling average and senior captain’s recognition trophy).

Jake Poole took home three trophies for his season in B-grade including Champion Player, Sporties award and the Batting award). Chris Cheong won the bowling average.

C-grade similarly saw Brody Tenney dominate the awards with the Sporties award, the bowling average and Champion Player trophy.

The standout in the under-16s was Kane Rattray-Robert who won the batting and bowling average as well as the batting aggregate and the Champion Player award. He shared the Sporties award with Nathan Gossayn.

The bowling aggregate was taken out by Cooper Adkins and James Hooper. The coach’s award went to Cooper Adkins.

Sam Trembath was the dominant player in the under-14s taking home the Sporties Award, the batting average as well as the Champion Player trophy. Sam was also the MVCA Champion Player recipient and won the MVCA batting average.

The bowling average and aggregate awards went to Murphy Stephens who was also the MVCA winner of the bowling aggregate.

The Coach’s award went to Ethan Bovalina.

The under-12s had a most successful season going through the season undefeated. All players were recognised for their endeavours with a specially struck medallion and team photo.

Other special awards were taken out by Tom Poole (Nick Gash spirit of cricket trophy), Wayne Brooker (Appreciation award) as well as Special Recognition awards to hard working club curators Jason Stephens and Sam Leigh.
