The ladies pairs final between Libby Jennings with Di Nye, playing the combination of Val Linquist and Elaine Rothe, took place on Monday, January 6. This report was submitted before that game, and the result will be published next week.
So, other than the men's final on Thursday, January 9, the only other bowls game played was Keith's Friday where the club had 20 players attend with the winners being Quentin Pettit and Gordon Bennett with plus 18.
The runners-up were Ruth Burnett and Peter Lihou with plus 6.
The other two game winners were Jon O'Dwyer and Libby Jennings with plus 3.
The best first game winners were Geoff Brentnall and Andy Jennings with plus 2, and the best second game winners were Ray Wright and Marge Mills with plus 7.
The Jackpot did not go off and is worth $159 this coming week, which will start at 9.30am.
A 9.30am start will then be in force during the rest of January and also February, so names will need to be down before 9am.
If you ring and nobody is there to answer, then please leave a message as these will be looked at before play.
The club mixed pairs sheet is now on the notice board with entries to close January 11, with the first round to be played on or before January 19.
Ladies social bowls recommences on Monday, January 13, and pennant practice will recommence on Wednesday, January 8 at 4pm.
The club would like to see all pennant bowlers at this practice, which will be held at 4pm every Wednesday until season end.
Following practice on Wednesday, January 15, there will be a barbecue meal provided at a cost of $2 for members, subsidised by club funds, raised from its recycling venture.
This provides the opportunity for members to socialise off the bowling green and provides organisers with an opportunity to address members as a group.
