On a hot day with all but Division Two playing early at 10am we had a reasonable day. Division One had a respectable draw against undefeated top side Numurkah Golf. Congratulations to the team members, who all put in to achieve this result. Division Two played in the afternoon against Wunghnu and won well, 64/41, to climb off the bottom of the ladder.
The Division Four players travelled all the way to Cobram and were met with a slick green and gusty wind. In a tight battle on both rinks, we unfortunately went down over the last few rinks to finish 11 shots down overall. It was a tight game; well played to all the players in the team. We are looking forward to the rematch. Division Four remains second on the ladder.
Division five was also at Cobram, and won overall by 10 shots with a draw and a win. Congratulations to Division Five, which is currently on top of the ladder.
Midweek Division One last Tuesday had to lower its colours to Tocumwal, which won 67/40. Barooga just could not handle the green surface; however, all players tried hard. The rematch will be interesting. Division Two had the bye. This Tuesday, Division One plays the strong Cobram team at Barooga, and Division Two travels to Numurkah Golf.
Only a small band of 12 loyal supporters played Keith’s Friday, with the winners being Jo Pettit and Andy Jennings. To keep it in the family, runners-up were Bill Hoog and Libby Jennings. It would be appreciated if more members made the effort to support Keith’s Friday, as it is the only social event we have for members who do not play pennant and for visiting players. Play is Fridays at 1.30pm; names in by 12.30pm by phone will do. The jackpot is still safe and is now worth $90.
