A Victoria Police spokesperson said the man was spotted by officers driving a green Ford Falcon in Benalla about 3pm.
When signalled to pull over, the driver sped away, police said.
The spokesperson said police deployed stop sticks on the Midland Hwy towards Shepparton. At the time the Falcon was allegedly travelling at about 150km/h.
When the car came to a stop a short time later, the man allegedly ran from the vehicle into nearby bushland, near the intersection of Boundary and Old Dookie Rds, the spokesperson said.
He was arrested without incident about 6pm, and is currently assisting police with inquiries.
The police spokesperson said the man was expected to be interviewed on Wednesday, July 6, in relation to instances of erratic driving and speeding in Benalla in a car with alleged stolen plates on Sunday, July 3, and driving on the wrong side of the road away from police in Shepparton on Monday, July 4.
He will also be interviewed in relation to reports of erratic driving in Benalla in a vehicle with no registration plates on Tuesday, July 5.
It is believed the incidents took place in a silver Holden VE commodore sedan.
