After a round four loss to Deniliquin, Yarroweyah was likely hoping for a turnaround at home.
But in the latest round of the 2024 Picola and District football league, Yarroweyah faced another tough challenge, this time against Picola United. Hosting the round five fixture, Yarroweyah was looking to rebound, but fell short of an impressive Picola United side.
The game began with Picola United setting a strong pace, scoring 55 points in the first quarter and continuing their momentum to surge away to 115 points at half-time. They maintained their lead throughout, finishing the game with a tally of 218 points.
Yarroweyah, despite a determined effort, scored two points in the first quarter and added six more by the half, ultimately reaching nine points by the game's end.
The end of round five sees Yarroweyah at the bottom of the ladder.
Before the game started both Yarroweyah and Picola stood united in minute’s silence for Cobram woman Emma Bates.
