“Council is currently undertaking roadworks on Watson St, which are expected to take about six weeks and be completed by mid-March,” a Campaspe Shire Council spokesperson said.
“The works include a section of kerb and channel replacement and full-depth rehabilitation of the road pavement from Crofton St, through to Law Court Place and including Law Court Place, which will be sealed only.”
Watson St was found to be in poor condition and is being repaired after the road was damaged during the construction and removal of the temporary bank during the 2022 floods.
The funding for the roadworks was taken from the federal and (or other) disaster recovery funding arrangements.
“Law Court was assessed as requiring renewal under council’s usual asset management process, and is planned work through Campaspe Shire Council’s capital works program and funded under council’s budget,” the spokesperson said.
“The lifespan of the works is subject to many factors (including potential for natural disaster), but road pavements of this type have a nominal lifespan of 40-50 years with some maintenance resealing during that time.
“Residents were informed by letter and the wider community has been informed via social and print media.”
