The Aged and Community Care Providers Association conference was attended by nearly 2500 aged care professionals from across the country in October, and among them were two Kyabram representatives.
Warramunda Village’s chief executive John Clark and board member John Moore were among the presenters for the conference, and discussed the journey of Warramunda and the strategies in place for the coming years.
“It was exciting to be able to share the story of the turnaround at Warramunda (it) was great recognition of the work by our outstanding staff," Mr Clark said.
“The work that has been done in the last two years in particular has set us up for a very exciting future."
The future of Warramunda includes utilising their seven-person board team to execute their strategic plan, which targets the need for additional beds.
Work has commenced on a 12-bed expansion within existing wings which is expected to be completed within 12 months.
However, the crux of Warramunda’s strategy revealed preliminary plans to develop an entirely new wing, consisting of an 18-bed development, and to have it completed by the end of the decade.
The new board was assembled due to requirements under new governance regulations and includes a team comprised of former director and chief executive of Munarra, Allan Laurie, an Epworth Healthcare dietician with over 30 years’ experience, Caroline Guille, CFO of National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sujeet Jena, lawyer Tina Leonard, communications strategist Danielle Bond and Mr Moore.
At the helm of the board is local and long-time Warramunda committee of management member, Alison Hunter.
“We are fortunate to have attracted a highly skilled and passionate group of people, all who share the goal of helping Warramunda to realise its full potential,” Mr Clark said.
"Our ultimate goal is to make the Warramunda Village complex a hub for aged care and allied health and develop facilities which will enable us to meet the demand of providing for an ageing community."
