Votes are in for new Jubilee Park playground equipment

Votes in: Strathbogie Shire held a stall at Avenel markets as a part of its community engagement process.

A new play space will be added to Avenel’s Jubilee Park following community consultation.

The most popular ideas have been selected, with a stepper bridge, fixed hanging rings, scaling wall, wave bridge, 1500 fibreglass slide and inclined net bridge to be included in the final design.

The new equipment will also include a flying fox, two new play structures made up of many different elements and swings, including an all-abilities swing and net swing.

To come to the decision, a survey was held by council at Avenel’s market in February alongside an online survey which received almost 300 responses.

Council also visited Avenel Kindergarten and Avenel Primary School to conduct engagement sessions with students.

Six items will be removed from the current play space as they no longer meet safety regulations.

A galvanised steel play unit, combination unit/play structure, freestanding slide, four spring rocking horses and both sets of double swings will be removed.

The play space is being enhanced thanks to the Avenel Jubilee Park committee and Avenel Active Inc. who were successful in securing a $50,000 government grant for shade sails to be installed over the area.
