Cobram captain Adrian Hilder said the brigade has 20 active members.
“The members that have joined said it's the best thing they've ever done and they wish they did it earlier,” he said.
“You make some lifelong friends and we're a very family-orientated brigade.”
Joining the brigade will come at no cost to new members, with training, uniforms and accommodation paid for by the CFA.
The brigade is looking for people with the flexibility to work days, nights and weekends.
Mr Hilder said many local employers supported CFA volunteers.
“You'll have a pager and respond to what you can,” he said.
“Some days we do maintenance runs on our vehicles and the first Tuesday of every month we have a brigade meeting and the third Tuesday of every month we have training — but we are flexible.”
He said the end of the fire season was the perfect time to join as the brigade has more time for training.
“Cobram is a really busy brigade with a diverse range of jobs,” Mr Hilder said.
“We're very involved in the community — we help Victoria Police, SES and Ambulance Victoria.
“We also assist with emergencies in other states too.
“Last year I was sent to Coffs Harbour to help with the bushfires, we were there for five days assisting the NSW fire service.”
Those who wish to apply must be over 16 and complete a police check.
To become a volunteer, applicants will undergo a training course and will be assessed by an instructor.
There is no limit on the number of people who can apply.
