Trevor and Glenda Willmott have been honoured by the Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club of Wangaratta, which has bestowed a life membership upon the couple.
The club, which was formed in 1969, has held a strong tradition of supporting car enthusiasts.
A club spokesperson said with more than 200 members it conducted monthly meetings and club runs to various parts of the north-east.
“(We) also hold a two-day Spring Rally each September, which attracts more than 80 vehicles and 140 participants,” the spokesperson said.
Club captain Jeff Nye said since its inception Life Membership had been awarded to only 13 members.
“Glenda and Trevor have given so much of their time and energy to support other members of the club over the past 14 years,” Mr Nye said.
“They both deserve the honour. Trevor and Glenda have given outstanding service to the club.
“Trevor has taken on the role as treasurer for a record 14 years and Glenda performed her role as social co-ordinator for six years.
“Both have attended every meeting and most club runs since 2006.
“Trevor will maintain his position as club signatory for vehicles of the club plate scheme, and will continue to service the members who live in Benalla.
“Congratulations to them both.”
