Hens Teeth Trading Cobram owners Rebecca Loughridge and Gretchen Thorburn have struggled with a lack of visibility but came up with a creative way to get noticed.
“We don’t have street frontage and don’t have a front window so we do have trouble with visibility,” Ms Loughridge said.
The two owners from Tocumwal decided to save up the money to commission Chiltern artist Kirrily Anderson to complete the artwork.
“We’ve known of her for a long time and thought she would be the best choice instead of putting up traditional signage,” Ms Loughridge said.
Ms Anderson said she enjoyed being able to help Hens Teeth Trading.
“I've been living in north-east Victoria for four years after moving from Melbourne and my artwork is inspired by the nature around me,” she said.
“This one is inspired by a cup moth, the gum-nut-looking shapes on the mural are actually the cocoons of the moth.”
It took Ms Anderson three days to complete the mural which incorporates a three-dimensional element in the artwork using Corten steel from Cobram's Recopak.
