In response to community feedback about Goulburn Valley libraries’ opening hours, Open Library is being trialled at the two libraries, with plans to extend to more branches in the future.
The Open Library program will see the libraries open and available to use between 8am and 8pm seven days a week, including public holidays. But before members utilise this service, they must attend a safety induction session.
The session will include learning how to access these services, understanding the safety measures in place, and receiving guidelines on acceptable use.
Services available during Open Library will include borrowing, Wi-Fi, public PCs, study spaces, print, scan and copy services.
This service is only available to members 18 years and over and is subject to additional terms and conditions. This service does not affect regular staffed hours.
GV Libraries board chair Suzanna Sheed praised the initiative.
“This initiative will be the first for the GV Libraries and will compliment the existing services delivered at the Numurkah and Tatura libraries,” she said.
“The board is excited to introduce these extended library hours to our communities, emphasising the importance of providing additional hours for those who cannot access our libraries during staffed hours.”
The Open Library launch will be held at Tatura Library on Thursday, May 2 at 1.30pm, and at the Nurmurkah Library on Friday, May 3 at 11am.
