Occurring one day apart, both fires were luckily easily contained.
While causes for both fires have not been confirmed, Finley brigade Captain Andrew Taylor said they were being treated as “suspicious”.
“Both were burning right next to the road in grass, with nothing else around and no obvious cause,” he said.
“Firefighters took less than half an hour to contain each, thanks to the cooler weather and lack of wind.
“There have also been a number of these suspicious fires across the region.”
Finley firefighters were called to a blaze on South Coree Rd, Finley about 8.30pm Thursday.
This grass fire burned an area of 50m² before being extinguished.
Friday night’s fire was larger, requiring assistance from the Berrigan and Tocumwal brigades.
It burned about one acre before being brought under control.
