It was pins, needles, thimbles, cottons and fabric galore as sewers, embroiderers and quilters from across Victoria gathered for the Nagambie Needle Workers Soiree.

The event was organised by Margaret Upston, Leesa Chandler and Karen Styles.
The three women have been friends for more than 20 years and decided they wanted to encourage like-minded embroiderers or quilters to continue with their wonderful craftwork and showcase their designs after the COVID-19 pandemic had stifled their creative talents and events.

The two-day soiree was held on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7, in the Nagambie Mechanics Hall.
More than 70 people attended the first day and more than 60 people checked it out on the second day.
Organisers invited participants to wear their pearls and bring along a fine China teacup and, of course, their sewing gear. High tea was served.

District resident Wendy Maclean praised the organisers.
“I think it should be mentioned that the event was very well organised and that a lot of thought had gone into it,” Ms Maclean said.
The organisers created three small projects that involved embroidery, a small quilting project and a pouch.
They were were pleased with the response and look forward to bringing it back another time.
As an added bonus, the weekend showed off Nagambie’s attractive accommodation, food and wine, bringing benefit to the whole community.
