Strathmerton is set to get a dose of fun-filled horror, as people dust off their ghost outfits and pull out a broomstick from the cupboard for Fright Fest.

Run by Cactus Country, a mere 15 minutes from Cobram, on Saturday, October 29 between 5.30pm and 9.30pm, the now sold-out event will celebrate all things spooky and kooky.
The facility’s five-hectare gardens will be transformed into a fun but spooky paradise suitable for the whole family, including dogs (though leashes are mandatory).
Participants have been encouraged to bring a torch (some can be provided), if they feel daring enough to explore the gardens when the sun goes down and the ghosts, witches and vampires come out to play.
Activities on the night include a scavenger hunt, fancy dress competition, face painting and glitter tattooist, as well as a zombie jumping castle, and barbecue food will be provided.
And as international travel is still quite difficult, Cactus Country has set up a staged photo area with props to make attendees feel like they are in the Mexico desert.
For those looking to take something else home other than good memories, Cactus Country will also be selling its plants during the event.
Cactus Country owner manager Julie Hall organised a Halloween event in 2019, which was well received by the locals, and the business wanted to do it again, as there were not many family-oriented events that people could go to.
She has been overwhelmed by the response, with people rushing to buy tickets.
Mrs Hall hopes attendees have a fun night out.
“People can come to see the gardens at night and it’s a totally different experience from visiting during the day ... and it’s a good opportunity to bring people out and together,” she said.
