Shepparton is set to sizzle, with the mercury expected to soar to 40°C on Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a string of six days above 30°C for Shepparton, with the hottest of those expected on Thursday, 38°C, and on Friday.
Saturday and Sunday are both expected to top 33°C.
Shepparton is then looking at reaching 35°C on Monday and 31°C on Tuesday.
The hottest day so far this February was Friday, February 10 when Shepparton sweltered through a 36°C day and a balmy night when the temperature fell to only 18.3°C .
A low-intensity heatwave warning has been issued for most of Victoria by the bureau.
Community members are encouraged to seek a place to keep cool and try to keep the heat out of their homes by closing windows and drawing blinds.
Extreme heat can affect anybody but those most at risk are older people, babies and children, pregnant women, people with medical conditions and those who are unwell.
