The organisation will receive funding for first aid training for its volunteers involved in food distribution.
Shepparton FoodShare plays a crucial role in providing food relief to around 60 agencies for Greater Shepparton community members in need.
Other community organisations in the region have also benefited from the program:
• Euroa Football Netball Club aims to enhance its volunteers’ skills through first aid training, promoting healthy connections and a sense of belonging.
• Girgarre Community Group is establishing a community garden, fostering access to fresh produce and social ties.
• The Kiwanis Club of Echuca-Moama will conduct essential maintenance on the MV Kiwanis vessel, enabling disability groups to enjoy free cruises.
• The Benalla Basketball Association is supporting an All Abilities Basketball Program, providing training gear and creating a safe and inclusive environment for people with disabilities to connect and enjoy basketball.
Since 2018, the grants program has awarded more than $1 million to grassroots and not-for-profit groups, making a positive impact in their communities.
In Victoria alone, 132 grants have been awarded, with a focus on mental health, communities experiencing disadvantage, cultural diversity, and First Nations communities. Additionally, a significant number of grants have been dedicated to sports, recreation, and arts and culture initiatives.
