The Seymour CFA is failing to meet target turn-out times due to the physical constraints of its current Gordon Crescent headquarters.
The organisation is looking for a new site in town, with the backing of State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland.
To get trucks out of the shed currently, Seymour CFA members must do a three-point turn. It is even more challenging reverse the trucks back into the shed, a statement from the Euroa state MP detailed.
The CFA’s current location is also creating traffic disruptions on Anzac Ave.
To turn left when exiting the station, the trucks are too large to complete a full turn into the left lane. They must instead cross the median strip when turning, facing oncoming traffic.
Ms Cleeland said a new location would allow the brigade to continue serving and protecting the community in a timely manner.
“Bart and his amazing volunteers at the Seymour CFA have been raising the need for a new site in town for an incredibly long time,” Ms Cleeland said.
“The volunteers here are incredibly selfless and yet on paper they’re missing the mark purely because of the poor location of the facility,” Ms Cleeland said.
